Accounting Technician – Distillery
Wage: $27.00 per hour
Location: Brownlee, Saskatchewan

Company Overview
We are a craft distillery specializing in small-batch spirits, production, bottling, and regional distribution. We are seeking an Accounting Technician to support our growing manufacturing and distribution operations.
Position Overview
The Accounting Technician will handle day-to-day financial tasks related to production, inventory, sales, and compliance. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience with bookkeeping or accounting, and an interest in working in a manufacturing environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records for distillery operations, including production costs, ingredient purchases, packaging supplies, and inventory movements.
Track and reconcile raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory to support accurate costing and compliance.
Process accounts payable by verifying invoices for grain, botanicals, packaging, excise stamps, freight, and equipment/production services.
Manage accounts receivable, prepare customer invoices for wholesale orders, record payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
Assist with payroll processing by verifying hours for production, warehouse, and retail/tasting room staff.
Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries, reconciliations, and cost reports that support budgeting and variance analysis.
Compile financial data to create internal reports such as product cost summaries, sales reports, and distribution expense tracking.
Ensure production, shipping, and distribution expenses are correctly allocated and recorded.
Maintain documentation for excise duty calculations, LDB-related reporting, and other required regulatory filings for alcohol manufacturing.
Prepare and submit government remittances including GST/PST, payroll deductions, and excise/mark-up submissions.
Communicate with suppliers, distributors, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and confirm financial details.
Assist in improving financial workflows for production scheduling, batch costing, inventory control, and wholesale orders.
Support management with financial summaries, forecasts, and analysis of product margins and distribution costs.
Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in bookkeeping or accounting; manufacturing or inventory-based environment is an asset.
Strong accuracy, organization, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production setting.
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
