Job Responsibilities:
• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of construction workers engaged in canopy & pylon installation, petroleum tanks & dispenser installation, roofing, cement finishing, plastering, drywall & insulation, framing, and painting at various sites.
• Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments: IT, retail, operations, and maintenance.
• Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
• Managing small construction and maintenance projects, as well as specialized projects as needed.
• Assisting construction managers with the permitting process, and on-site responsibilities.
• Requisition of procuring stores equipment, goods, supplies, services, and materials for construction and maintenance projects.
• Collaborating with various contractors to request RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs for projects, and negotiating to achieve the best outcomes.
• Complete final details on jobs or service tasks as needed.
• Site audits before, during, and after construction, perform quality control inspections, and prepare work progress reports.
• Train workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies. Ensure proper OH&Sand petroleum-oriented safety training regulations are being followed on all sites.
Requirements:
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Bachelor’s in civil engineering
• Several years of experience in the trade or in the work area supervised are usually required.
• Extensive experience with the permitting process with several authorities for sites across multiple provinces in Canada, including TSSA and TSBC.
• Flexible work schedule: should be available to work different shifts, including weekends.
Tasks:
Supervise workers and projects
Co-ordinate and schedule activities
Recruit and hire workers and carry out related staffing actions
Estimate costs and materials
Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
Read blueprints and drawings
Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
Leading/instructing individuals
Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
Co-ordinate work activities with other departments
Plan and organize construction projects
Construction site supervision
Conduct quality audits
Complete reports on product inspection
Review and evaluate commercial or industrial development proposals
Train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
Establish work schedules and procedures
Consult with government regulatory and licensing agencies to ensure conformance to provincial standards
Coordinate work activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets
Ensure that construction permits are obtained
Supervision: 5-10 people, Bricklayers, Cement finishers, Tilesetters, Painters and decorators, Floor covering installers, Plasterers, Drywall installers and finishers, Roofers, Cladders/siding installers, Electrical appliances installers, Sign installers, Experience and specialization
